Day 48: Nazr Mohammed

Omertime

Today is Day 48 of the Omer. Yesod sheb’malchut. Nobility that leads to Foundation.

After winning two NCAA championships in three seasons at Kentucky, Nazr Mohammed left college 18 credit hours short of his bachelor’s degree, to become a first round pick of the Philadelphia 76ers. 

He established himself as a solid backup center, averaging 5.8 points and 4.7 rebounds a game for 8 teams over 18 seasons. In 2004, he was traded to San Antonio mid-season and played a crucial role in the Spurs championship run, starting all 23 games of the playoffs and averaging 7.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.0 block/game in 23 minutes. 

After retiring from his playing career, Mohammed became a scout in the Oklahoma City Thunder front office. But despite his success and a stable career, Mohammed felt like something was missing.
